Polinox launches phthalate-free peroxides
Products are environmentally friendly
Polinox, the largest Brazilian manufacturer of peroxides and mold release wax, has just included in its portfolio a phthalate-free MEKP (Methyl Ethyl Ketone Peroxide) line. Phthalates, which are harmful to the environment, have been banned in Europe. Brazil still has no legislation addressing this substance, which is used, for example, in toys made of PVC.
Phthalate-free peroxides show no change in performance, highlights Roberto Pontifex, Polinox CEO. “Although there may be a few changes in the percentage of active oxygen and physical properties, the performance remains unchanged”, he said.
Polinox already used to provide phthalate-free AAP (Acetyl-Acetone) peroxides. “Our product line with this feature is different from others because it bears a TX mark after the trade name”.

About Polinox
Polinox is the leading Brazilian manufacturer of organic peroxides and mold release waxes – raw materials necessary to produce composites (combination between thermoset resins and mechanical strengthening, such as fiberglass). With over three decades of experience, Polinox started out producing gelcoat, and left this market ten years ago, when this operation was sold to an international group. From then on, Polinox has been working exclusively with organic peroxides and mold release waxes. Its plant, located in Itupeva – 70 km from São Paulo – has modern equipment and a completely secure structure to produce these special chemicals. Operating nationwide, Polinox has a portfolio of more than 800 composites manufacturers.
